Group-F News
Group-F Back Online

24 June 2007

I know what the fans are saying:

"What the.. This is the same pixelated POS as last week!"

"That loser! WES wussed out already!"

"When will this idiot give it up and forget the comic thing?"

Yes, Group-F hasn't been updated in more than a little while. But, there is good reason.

It turns out that when new memory fries out one of your systems, you really shouldn't put it the other system. You know, just to see if that one fries too.

Granted, I didn't know that the first one was fried when I dropped that new memory into my backup system. I sure had it figured out when the CPU on the backup box had a black gooey ooze spilling out of the core. Probably the epoxy.

So, a quick run down to the local big box high tech store. Grabbed a new AMD64 based dual core box. Super sweet, but there were some problems.

These were namely with the version of Linux I was trying to use. Just before burning out the old systems, I had just downloaded the latest Debian distrobution for 32 bit x86. This kinda worked on the 64, but would puke at odd times. Once I got it running long enough to snag an appropriate distribution: Hazzahh! It runs like a champ!

Now Group-F is back up and running.

Some of you may have noticed that something is different about the site. Yep, the layout has changed. I think I like this layout more, but who knows. It might change again.

The strip has changed too. Group-F is going to have different layouts for the strip. They may change with every edition, or I may settle on something before long. Regardless, the current one has a comic book like layout.

Enjoy!
